2017 APS Field Trips
Field Trip 2017–1, Saturday June 17, 2017 : Turner Valley area, Alberta
A trip to the Turner Valley area is planned for Saturday, June 17. At this time the itinerary has not been finalized. It is anticipated that several
roadside stops will be made during the day. A tour of the Turner Valley Gas Plant is also tentatively planned. Please note that a small fee is charged
for plant tours. We will be carpooling and as there is limited parking at many of the stops the number of participants will be limited. This will be
an educational trip with very limited opportunities to collect.
The registration deadline is June 9, 2017.
Field Trip 2017-2, July 15 & 16, 2017: Red Deer River Badlands, Alberta
This field trip will be to locations along the Red Deer River in the vicinity of Drumheller. Within the valley and adjacent coulees between East Coulee
and Dry Island Park the Cretaceous Edmonton Group is well exposed. Renowned worldwide for its vertebrate fauna stops will be made at number of localities.
Depending on timing there may be opportunity to visit an active research location.
Registration deadline is July 7, 2017.
Field Trip 2017-3, August 19 & 20, 2017: Central Alberta Foothills, Alberta
Exposures in the Alberta foothills between Nordegg and Hinton are varied allowing field trip participants the opportunity to visit a number of sites
of palaeontological interest. Rocks from the Devonian to Cretaceous outcrop at various locations requiring only a short hike to reach.
Registration deadline is August 11, 2017.

Then mail to Wayne at the address indicated on the Sign Up Sheet along with the field trip fee, or give to Wayne in person during the monthly meetings.

The APS is concerned about the safety of its members during our field tip outings. Safety
protocol requires that the SAFETY GUIDELINES guidelines must be communicated to and understood by those attending.
You will be asked to sign our waiver as proof of your understanding of these SAFETY GUIDELINES.
